From time to time users contact us with questions regarding the use of IntelliQuote. The following issues may help answer your question.

bulletIf you edit a custom material and change the "description", when you "Accept" the changes a new material is created instead of simply changing the description of the old material.

This behavior is by design. If you want to change the description of a custom material you must select the old one and "Erase" it after you "Accept" the new one.
